What We Build With Matters

At NJ Decks and Outdoor Living, using the right materials is just as important as the craftsmanship we bring to each project. From framing and decking to railings, lighting, and shade structures, every product is selected with care to help you enjoy your space for years to come. We work with a range of trusted brands and systems to match your goals, whether you want low-maintenance options, premium finishes, or the most durable structure possible. Here’s a closer look at the materials we use and why they matter.

Composite and PVC Decking

We regularly build with composite and PVC decking materials from brands like Trex, TimberTech, AZEK, and Wolf. These boards are designed to resist fading, staining, and moisture, offering a long-lasting surface with minimal upkeep.

Composite decking combines recycled wood fibers and plastics for a natural look and solid feel. PVC is fully synthetic and offers superior resistance to moisture and heat, making it a great choice for rooftop decks, poolside spaces, or areas with intense sun exposure.

Some of the most popular product lines we install include Trex Transcend, Trex Transcend Lineage, TimberTech Legacy, TimberTech Reserve, and AZEK Vintage and Landmark collections. Each line offers unique textures, colors, and performance benefits, and we work closely with each client to recommend the best fit for their style, lifestyle, and maintenance preferences.

For trim and fascia, we use white PVC or composite and PVC boards that match the deck materials. These finishing elements protect the deck’s structure and enhance its appearance from every angle.

Framing Systems

Every deck we build starts with a strong and stable frame. We use steel or aluminum framing on all new decks for enhanced durability, longevity, and structural integrity.

Our standard option is G-90 galvanized steel, known for its strength and resistance to corrosion. For homeowners who want advanced performance or sleek finishes, we also install Fortress Evolution steel framing and TimberTech aluminum framing.

These materials do not warp, rot, or attract insects like wood can. Steel and aluminum also allow for longer spans and straighter lines, creating more usable space below the deck and fewer limitations during design.

Railing Systems

Railings are a key part of your deck’s safety and style. We offer a wide variety of systems to suit different aesthetics and layouts, including:

  • Trex Transcend or Select composite railings
  • Trex Signature or Select aluminum railings
  • Key-Link aluminum railings
  • Cable and glass rail systems
  • Custom Fabricated railings

Whether you’re going for a classic, contemporary, or open-concept look, we help you find a railing that ties your outdoor space together while meeting all required safety codes.

Privacy Features

We offer custom privacy walls and install Hideaway Privacy Panels, which come in a variety of decorative styles and finishes. These privacy options are perfect for blocking views, adding shade, or creating a more defined outdoor room. Panels can be integrated into your deck and railing design so everything looks cohesive and intentional.

Fasteners, Trim, and Details

All decking installations are completed with stainless steel hidden fasteners. This system creates a clean surface with no visible screws while also preventing rust and corrosion over time.

Outdoor Lighting

We install low-voltage lighting systems to improve both safety and ambiance. Lighting can be incorporated into railings, stair risers, deck boards, or posts to highlight pathways and create a warm, inviting feel after dark.

Common lighting types include:

  • Post cap lights
  • Stair riser lights
  • Recessed dot lights
  • Puck lights

We typically use lighting from Trex, TimberTech, and Tru-Scapes, which are designed specifically for outdoor environments and integrate well with the deck systems we build.

Shade Structures

We install awnings, pergolas, and louvered roof systems to help homeowners enjoy their outdoor space in any weather. These features add comfort, protect from sun or rain, and help define distinct outdoor living zones.

Our retractable awnings are sourced from Aristocrat Awnings, offering a wide range of styles, sizes, and fabrics to match your space. Pergolas and louvered roofs are customized for each project, based on your layout, design preferences, and shade needs.

Patios and Outdoor Kitchens

In addition to decks, we also design and manage projects that include patios, outdoor kitchens, and hardscaping elements. These features help create a complete outdoor living environment and can be seamlessly integrated into your deck and shade structure.

We partner with experienced landscape and kitchen professionals who specialize in paver patios, stonework, outdoor appliances, and built-in cabinetry. These trusted crews are experts in their field, and we coordinate directly with them to ensure your project is executed with the same attention to quality, communication, and detail from start to finish.

Whether you want a grilling station, pizza oven, bar seating, or a spacious patio for entertaining, we make it easy to bring all the elements together. You won’t have to manage multiple vendors or schedules, we handle it for you as part of our full-service approach.
