Warranties for Your Deck and Outdoor Living Project

A deck is a major investment—warranties help protect it.

Most projects have two layers of coverage: a manufacturer warranty (for material defects like excessive fading, staining, splintering, or corrosion—often 25–50+ years on many composite lines) and a contractor/workmanship warranty (for installation-related issues like loose railings, framing concerns, or other labor defects—commonly 2–10 years, depending on the contractor). Wood decks typically rely mainly on the workmanship warranty, since wood materials often aren’t covered the same way composites are. It’s also important to know that product warranties and labor warranties are different, and both usually exclude things like scratches, gouges, moving furniture marks, or problems caused by lack of maintenance.

Built to Last. Backed by Experience.

At NJ Decks and Outdoor Living, we understand your outdoor space is an investment—and we believe in protecting it. That’s why we provide a Lifetime Workmanship Warranty on our projects, and we help you understand and access the manufacturer warranties for the products we install.

Two types of coverage to understand

Workmanship Warranty
Covers the quality and care of how your project was built. It applies when an issue occurs because the installation did not meet our construction standards.

Manufacturer Warranty
Covers the materials used in your project. This may include protection against defects such as fading, splitting, staining, or corrosion (based on the manufacturer’s terms).

Most composite decking products include manufacturer warranties ranging from 25 to 50 years, depending on the brand and product line. Together, these warranties provide long-term peace of mind.

Our Lifetime Workmanship Warranty

We stand behind the quality of our work with a Lifetime Workmanship Warranty. This warranty reflects our commitment to building outdoor spaces that perform as intended—and last.

Our workmanship warranty applies to concerns related to the installation process that may affect how your deck or outdoor living area is designed to perform.

Important details:

  • This warranty applies only to the original homeowner and is not transferable.

  • Wood materials are not covered for splintering, shrinking, cracking, warping, or checking. These are natural characteristics of wood and not considered workmanship issues.

  • Lighting products are covered for one (1) year from the date of installation.

  • This warranty does not cover drainage systems.

  • We are not responsible for damage to ground coverings such as ivy, pachysandra, or other landscaping located near the work area.

  • We schedule utility mark-outs prior to digging or footing installation, but we cannot be held responsible for any damage to underground items not identified by these services.

  • Scratches, stains, gouges, discoloration from furniture or planters, and damage from lack of maintenance are not covered by this warranty.
